Music: Driving 3,100+ Miles? Here’s A Playlist

If you’re ever in need of a road trip playlist that will last you 3,100+ miles, here ya go! This is what my 160 GB iPod “shuffled” on a trip from Boston to Seattle:

Review: Meiko – The Crocodile (Seattle, WA; 5/26/09)

Have you ever had the balls to quit your job, move to a new city, and see if you could “make it”? That is precisely what Meiko did a little over a year ago as she went from waiting tables to headlining her first tour.

Cool iTunes Library Visualizations

I was going through some old bookmarks and stumbled on Wordle, which is used for generating “word clouds” based on the number of times a word is used. Kinda like a tag cloud, but with a few more options. After trying out a few fun things like President Obama’s Inaugaration Speech, I wanted something with more words, something that would really put the Wordle algorithm through its paces.

Review: The Miniature Tigers + Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band – Chop Suey (Seattle, WA; 5/21/09)

Bottom line: I’m glad I saw the show and I would recommend catching them before it comes to an end on June 7th. I went to see Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band, but I have to admit that I was impressed with both The Miniature Tigers and Kevin Devine. The best part about the whole experience was I saw some amazing bands for less than a 20-spot.

Eats: BNL’s “If I Had 1,000,000 Flavours”

In all the hubbub of Swine Flu taking over the media, there was a divorce brewing in our “Neighbors to the North” that got little or no coverage. Seems that Canadia had a falling out with one of their favorite sons, Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies. Actually, it wasn’t Canadia that kicked him out of the band, it looks to be more of an amicable split according to BNL’s website and the newly-solo Steven’s Blog. Steven will be missed. In the live shows he was the “Bonnie” to Ed’s “Clyde”, pouring emotion into heartfelt renditions of “Break Your Heart”, and rapping about running up the stairs at Red Rocks a couple of songs later.
